Gihan presented an interactive and useful session on how to build online content. He played a great example of video content to the audience then invited MFAA’s 2014 Mortgage Credit Adviser of the Year, Melissa Gielnik, to the stage while he went through her ‘positioning matrix’.

The positioning matrix is the format which should be followed when creating video content. These are:

  • Obsession
  • Uniqueness
  • Purpose
  • Category
  • Analogy
  • Problems
  • History
  • Story
  • Solutions

Each section serves an important role in building trust, credibility and showing your audience who you really are.

Other things to keep in mind when recording your video is to:

  • make sure your phone is on landscape
  • ensure you have sufficient lighting so the videos looks bright and refreshing
  • audio should be clear
  • look at the camera – connection with your eyes will help you engage the viewer better
  • keep it to 2 mins max

Members of the audience were then invited to create their own positioning matrix and record their video.

If you are looking to add additional effects to your video, stock image libraries like istock and shutterstock have lots of public domain video introductions. Or you could look at Fiverr to outsource it at a low cost.

Gihan’s final point was to share videos on as many social platforms as possible – Youtube, websites and Social Media.
